Job Title: Illustrator Intern

Share about your experience. In the past, I have worked with both East Lubbock Art House (ELAH) and Lubbock Arts Alliance as an art educator for young children. I developed my passion for creativity and helping others and continued this work as an artist intern for ELAH, assisting with graphic design and illustration as needed. Throughout 2020-2022, I attained several awards for my artistic achievements including the American Visions Nominee 2022, Scholastic Gold Key 2022, and SkillsUSA Blue Ribbon Winner for Advertising Design 2020-2022. I was certified in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator shortly before beginning college at Texas Tech University (TTU), where I am currently an art major with a concentration in graphic design and an advertising minor. In university, I have been active with the TTU Matador Singers, the Canterbury Episcopal Student Ministry, the Filipino Student Association, and the Tech Gender & Sexuality Alliance. These experiences have impacted me for the better and made me a more well-rounded, educated person.

What are your favorite things to do? In my spare time, I enjoy reading – particularly about Christian theology and religion in general. I also find interest in diving deep into a fictional novel, especially if it is a horror or psychological thriller. I love animated films such as Paprika and Ghost in the Shell as well and consume media such as TV shows and other movies regularly. Furthermore, I love to sing and am a member of the choir at my college. Not only am I a voracious reader, but I also am an avid poet even though I rarely share my writing. I also adore playing the ukulele and doing calisthenic workouts. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

What do you want to achieve with this internship? With this internship, I aim to gain the tools and patterns of thinking I need to succeed in the professional world. I want to further my career by adding experience under my belt and allowing myself time to enrich my artistic and communicative prowess.  I hope to add to my portfolio in meaningful ways and make connections that will positively affect me and my future. 

What is one interesting fact about you? I’m 19, but I have a baby tooth.
